Adidas Adizero Golf Shoe

Posted by mercer @ 2:19 pm

Hi guys, this is Trevor with GolfEtail.com.  Today we have a special treat; we are reviewing the new Adidas Adizero Golf Shoe, the lightest golf shoes ever made.  It is completely reengineered from the ground up to give you total performance.

The Adizero are some of the lightest golf shoes that Adidas as ever made.  As you can see here they weight 11. 5 ounces and oddly enough this is actually a size 11.5.  And to compare it a little bit this is one of the shoes that they are replacing it with.  This is a Tour 360 ATV; a great shoe in its own right.  Let’s see how much that weights.  It is 1 pound 4 ounces.  So significantly lighter on the Aidzeros.

So you can see here the difference on these two shoes.  This is the Adizero, this is the Tour 360 ATV.  The Adizero features this new sprint frame outsole, which is much thinner and much lighter than the ATV’s outsole is.   As you can see it does away with all spikes that are pre-molded inside here so it doesn’t get as clogged up but it still provides you plenty of traction because it has the 10 spikes.

For the Adizeros Adidas developed a proprietary technology called sprint skin.  That’s what the upper is made of and it is actually synthetic material that is lighter and more water resistance and more breathable then leather is.

The Adizero’s feature the latest technology.  They are the shoes that all your favorite Adidas Pros are wearing right now.

So jump onto GolfEtail.com and pick up a pair today.  We will give you a sweet deal.  And you will be looking pretty slick out there on the course.

Adams IDEA Tech a4R Hybrid Review

Posted by Trevor @ 1:12 pm

Hi folks, this is Trevor with GolfEtail.com, and today I am reviewing the Adams IDEA Tech a4R Hybrid.

Adams is the king of hybrids for a reason, and that is because they work. This hybrid features Adams’ Boxer Technology. You can se it has a square head shape that pulls weight to the perimeters of the club. This perimeter weighting gives it a high Moment of Inertia (MOI), which means it is a forgiving club even when struck off center.

From the top you can see the crown does feature that squareish head shape. It looks good when looking down at the ball. It also features this nice hot steel face, which gives you great ball speeds. The whole club is designed to have a low Center of Gravity (COG), as well as a high Moment of Inertia (MOI). The club is meant to be forgiving as well as high performance.

If you struggle with long irons, consider switching to hybrids. A lot of the pros are doing it and you don’t have to worry about what people are going to think because these clubs work. You are going to watch your shots soar and your scores drop!

TaylorMade R11 Sneak Preview!

Check it out: TaylorMade R11 Driver! Looks like it truely is going to be a white Christmas!

TaylorMade R11 Driver

The TaylorMade R11 has not been released yet, and there are very few technical specs on the club, but we can guess that it is going to be a real winner. The white crown is the first thing you notice… a big change from the typical black finish most drivers have. However, the finish is matte, so it doesn’t look like it is going to produce any glare.

The R11 is similar to the various versions of the R9, with the pear-shaped head, deep face, and overall great looks. Like the R9, R9 SuperDeep Tp, etc.. the R11 features MWT (Movable Weight Technology) which allows you to adjust the club’s CG to promote different ball flights, be it a draw, fade, or neutral. The provided weights on the R11 can result in up to 20 yards of side-to-side trajectory change.

It also features FCT (Flight Control Technology), which allows you to adjust the loft of the club, increasing or decreasing the launch angle of your shots. FCT is great in distance control, as it allows you to hit lower, more penetrating shots by decreasing the loft by 1 degree and reducing spin rate up to 500 rpm. Likewise, increasing the loft by 1 degree produces higher arcing shots with more spin.

However, there are some serious design differences aside from the white finish. Notice the “ASP” on the toe if the R11 Driver? It stands for “Adjustable Sole Plate” (Look at the big red triangle in the first picture). This allows you to adjust the face angle of the club, promoting straighter shots by compensating for flaws in your swing. This Adjustable Sole Plate opens or closes the face 2 degrees, promoting the look you want at address, and the ball flight that results from a solid impact.

We can’t wait to see how the TaylorMade R11 performs next year on Tour, and look forward to seeing all the big brands pushing the envelope of design and technology in their golf clubs. Our wish is the same as most golfers: to hit it longer and straighter, and shave strokes off our game, all while having more and more fun. The TaylorMade R11 might be the thing to do it!

Bushnell Golf Pro 1600 Tournament Edition Laser Rangefinder

Hi folks, this is Trevor with GolfEtail.com, and today I am reviewing the Bushnell Pro 1600 Tournament Edition Laser Rangefinder.

Bushnell has been the #1 Laser Rangefinder on tour for a long time, and that is because they make really good products. This one has a huge range, 7x magnification, and Japanese made optics, so you know you are getting the highest quality.

With the Pro 1600 Tournament Edition, you can use both “Scan” mode and “Pinseeker” mode. With Scan mode, you get distances on anything the middle of the laser rangefinder touches while you are scanning the course, so you can get distances to trees, bunkers, etc. Pinseeker mode is where you dial in on the pin and push the button here, so it locks in, so you get precise yardages. Their accuracy is +/- 1 yard, so you know you are going to choose the right club each and every time.

You can see here on the back of the box, it gives you the ranges of the different modes of shooting with this Laser Rangefinder. When you are hitting the flag, your range is 5-400 yards, and that is including Pinseeker mode. When hitting a non-reflective surface such as a tree, the range is 5-1000 yards, and the big daddy of them all, when hitting a reflective surface such as a house, the range is 5-1600 yards, so this thing is going to give you distances, no matter how far away you are trying to hit the ball.

The Pro 1600 Tournament Edition comes with this great carrying case as well as the 9 volt battery that powers the device. Jump on our website, GolfEtail.com and pick one up, this makes a great Christmas gift, and you know that whoever gets it is going to love it.

Hi folks, this is Trevor with GolfEtail.com, and today I am going to be reviewing the Callaway X-Series Men’s Watches.

Callaway timepieces are made with the same attention to detail and to design as their golf clubs, so you know that these things are really high quality. And, not to mention, they are quite beautiful. The X-Series watches are a little sportier than the other series of watches that Callaway makes, but they still feature all the class you could ask for.

These watches feature a 3-piece 40mm case, and both the case and the bracelet are made out of stainless steel. They also feature chronograph movement so you can use it as a stop watch as well as, obviously, to keep time.

These watches also feature luminous hands and dial markers, and are water resistant to up to 5 Atmospheres (5 ATM), which is roughly 40 meters under seal level.

All of these watches also come with a Callaway branded tin, so they are already prepackaged and pre wrapped for those Christmas gifts.

Thanks for watching guys, these were the Callaway X-Series Men’s Watches. We have them in both Black and in Silver. Pick one up for a friend or pick one up for yourself. It is a perfect gift and they are great watches. They are appropriate for many occasions, from the golf course to the board room, and you won’t be disappointed with the quality of these watches.

Callaway Big Bertha Diablo Hybrid Video Review

Posted by Marc @ 1:05 pm

Hi guys, this is Trevor with GolfEtail.com, and today I am going to be reviewing the Callaway Big Bertha Diablo Hybrids.

The Big Bertha Diablo hybrids feature Callaway’s Dual Runner Sole, and you can see here they have stickers on them on this club just to indicate where they are. The theory is that these clubs keep you going in a straight line, even when you are swinging through some really rough stuff. If you were to imagine my finger is the ground, you can see how much of the sole of the club is relieved. So, it is playable from a variety of lies, from the deepest rough, to fairway bunkers, to the fairway itself.

You can see that these Diablo Hybrids are really good looking, and they look great when you are standing over them. As with all hybrids, they are meant to replace those long irons. They are really easy to hit, and are going to give you great distance. You are costing yourself strokes if you are not hitting hybrids.

These clubs also feature Callaway’s VFT, or Variable Face Thickness technology, which broadens the sweet spot on the club, giving you a hot ball flight, even if it is hit a little off center, towards the heel or the toe of the club. You are going to get great distance out of these hybrids.

Thanks for watching folks, these were the Callaway Big Bertha Diablo Hybrids. Don’t forget that when you are playing hybrids, you have to swing as if it is an iron. Swing down on the ball, take a divot, and you are going to get the ball up in the air quickly without losing any of your distance. When your irons would catch or dig, hybrids are designed to not do that. They are going to give you great distance and accuracy, so replace those long irons, get some hybrids, and drop some shots.

Want To Play Better Golf … Get a Rangefinder!

Many would argue the most significant improvement to golf equipment in the last 10 – 20 years is the new GPS or Laser Rangefinders.    These handheld instruments give you precise distances to greens,  bunkers, lay up locations, or to hazards all in effort to allow you make a better club choice before you hit your shot.  Simply said, they allow you to eliminate the guess work out of your game, and make better, more informed decisions.

Since the USGA approved them for play back in the mid 1990’s, these handy devices have become a staple in many golfers bag. And although still not allowed on the Professional Tours, you will find all caddies using them during the practice rounds to record important yardages and distances.

Rangefinders come in two flavors:  GPS Rangefinders and Laser Rangefinders.

  • GPS Rangefinders are very similar to what you probably have in your car.    They use overhead satellite technology and pre-mapped courses to pin point where you are on the course, and what lies ahead of you (or behind you).  Typically GPS Rangefinders are accurate to +3-5 yards and many (but not all) require an annual subscription.

The advantages of GPS rangefinders are: A complete overview of the hole can be displayed which is great when playing unfamiliar courses. Thousands of courses are pre-mapped. Many allow you to save information (digital scorecards, shot distances, …).

The disadvantages of GPS Rangefinders are: Most (not all) require an annual subscription. Accuracy of GPS Rangefinders is not quite as good as Laser Rangefinders. Distances must have been pre-mapped and course must be downloaded in advance. Battery life on some models is limited.

  • Laser Rangefinders use a laser technology to determine the distance to an object that you aim it at. You simply take the device aim at an object you interested in and the distance appears in the view finder. So why purchase a Laser: Well Laser Rangefinders are considered to be more accurate (typically + 1 yard).

The advantages of Laser Rangefinders include: Accurate to within 1 yard. No pre-mapping is required … simply point and shoot. Excellent battery life. Can be used for boating, archery, …

The disadvantages of Laser Rangefinders include: Must have something to shoot to get a distance (not always great for layup shots). Sometimes difficult to get depth of greens. Must have line of sight to object of interest … can’t shoot through trees or around dog-legs. No hole overview display.

So there you have it. We have a good selection at GolfEtail.com all at discount prices, so be good to yourself and think about one.
